About EPRS

We are the European Parliament's in-house research service.
Our mission is to provide Members, their staff, and where appropriate parliamentary committees, with independent, objective and authoritative analysis of, and research on, policy issues relating to the European Union.
We provide a comprehensive range of products and services, backed by specialist internal expertise and knowledge sources in all policy fields. We empower Members and committees through knowledge, thereby contributing to the Parliament’s effectiveness and influence. EPRS also supports and promotes parliamentary outreach to the wider public.
- We produce researchpublications on all EU policies, issues and legislation.
- We provide overviews of the subjects on the plenary agenda.
- We follow the legislation in progress, analysing every proposal for substantial EU legislation at each stage of the legislative procedure, through specific publications and the regular updating of the Legislative Train Schedule online tool.
- We support Members’better law-makingand scrutiny throughout the policy and legislative cycle, from policy design to evaluating how EU laws work in practice.
- We provide independent, evidence-based analysis on scientific and technological developments to support policy-making.
- We offer a wide range of library services both on-site and online.
- We organise events and round-table debates.
- We engage in close cooperation with parliamentary research services, libraries and other relevant partners, both within and beyond the EU.
- EPRS offers the possibility to apply for a study visit or a traineeship.
- EPRS occasionally makes requests for contributions from independent experts for its publications.
